Emirates SkyCargo notches new Dubai Hub Milestone

DUBAI, 12th September, 2018 (WAM) -- Emirates SkyCargo has announced that it has transported the one millionth Unit Loading Device, ULD, through its bonded corridor trucking service connecting the Dubai International Airport, DXB, and the Dubai World Central, DWC. The trucking service allows for rapid connection of cargo between Emirates’ passenger and freighter aircraft. Emirates SkyCargo launched the trucking corridor in April 2014, when the air cargo carrier first commenced freighter flights from the DWC. A fleet of 49 trucks, including 12 refrigerated trucks for temperature-sensitive goods, links cargo between the two airports on a 24x7 basis. Watch the journey...

Tyre bursts leave 110 dead in UAE in 2018

Accidents caused by tyre bursts claimed the lives of 110 people in the UAE and left 1,133 others injured in 2018, according to traffic authorities. New figures released by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) showed that 785 accidents recorded across the country last year resulted from worn-out tyres, due to lack of regular maintenance or overloading of vehicles. Police in UAE clamp down on phone 'credit' peddlers

Despite the massive police crackdown on phone scammers, men peddling prepaid credits are still being spotted on Sharjah streets, authorities and residents have said. A total of 37 Asians - believed to be part of the gangs that run the prepaid load racket - have been arrested in the last three months, said Col Ibrahim Al Ajill, director of the criminal investigation department of the Sharjah Police. Residents who are travelling over the summer months are being invited to drop off their indoor plants at Dubai Garden Centre on the Sheikh Zayed Road in July and August. Indian airlines add more UAE flights

To fill the gaps created by Jet Airways' grounding, Indian carriers will soon add more flights to and from the UAE - much to the relief of expats in the country. Air India (AI), SpiceJet and GoAir have confirmed they would increase their frequencies and introduce new routes between Dubai and a number of Indian cities.
