Dubai among world's top 15 financial centres

Backed by its strong infrastructure, banking and financial services, Dubai has retained its top ranking in the region in the list of the world's top financial centres and improved its global ranking by four places.According to the Global Financial Centre Index released on Wednesday, Dubai was ranked 15th worldwide, higher than Paris, Geneva, Los Angeles, Luxembourg and Vienna, among others.The improvement in Dubai's rating was backed by its strong infrastructure where it was ranked eighth worldwide, ahead of San Francisco, Toronto, Frankfurt, Zurich and Paris. India’s car sales see record monthly drop in August

 A young man stood trial after being accused of threatening his girlfriend through Snapchat that he would tell her mother about their illicit relationship if she refused to meet him. Ex-banker in Dubai jailed for forging cheque to steal Dh1.2m from customer's account

A former bank customer service employee has been sentenced in absentia to five years in prison after a Dubai court found him guilty of embezzling a Dh1.2 million cheque from a British customer's account. The Court of First Instance convicted the 42-year-old runaway Egyptian employee of a number of charges, including voluntarily damaging the interests of a public entity to get a profit for himself, embezzlement from workplace, fraud and forgery.
