Comedian Michelle Wolf delivers one-liner in response to Trump attack

Michelle Wolf won't be making any jokes from the podium at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, but last year's host was ready with a one-liner after the president attacked her on Twitter. Donald Trump, who bashed Wolf relentlessly for her performance at last year's dinner, returned to the theme on Tuesday night after it was reported the annual event would ditch the tradition of having a comedian next year. "So-called comedian Michelle Wolf bombed so badly last year at the White House Correspondents' Dinner that this year, for the first time in decades, they will have an author instead of...

Japan wrestling with Trump going to sumo during state visit

Plans for U.S. President Donald Trump to check out the ancient Japanese sport of sumo wrestling during a state visit are raising security issues for organizers. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is eager to have Trump and his wife, Melania, attend the final day of a 15-day tournament on May 26 and hand over a trophy to the winner. The issue for organizers, Japanese media reports said Tuesday, is that more than 1,000 seats near the ring are generally sold out and buyers will all have to be checked in advance. They may also have to ban the sale of...

19 terror attacks foiled in 2 years by UK; ISIS travel on crackdown

London: The UK government on Monday announced a fresh crackdown on its nationals travelling to ISIS territory in Syria as it revealed that Britain's security forces had foiled 19 major terror attacks in the past two years. In a speech on national security at Scotland Yard headquarters in London, UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid warned British nationals to leave conflict-ridden territories or risk a jail term of up to 10 years, effectively imposing a ban on travel to Idlib and the northeast of Syria under new powers to tackle suspected terrorists. "Each and every day, our security services fight against...

Asian stocks mixed after Wall Street fall on Huawei anxiety

Asian stocks were mixed Tuesday after anxiety over U.S. restrictions on sales to Chinese tech giant Huawei pulled Wall Street lower. Benchmarks in Shanghai and Seoul advanced, while Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney declined. Anxiety over U.S.-Chinese trade tension was reignited by Washington's decision to require export licenses for technology sales to Huawei Technologies Ltd. American officials say the biggest global maker of network gear for phone carriers is a security risk, which Huawei denies. That followed new tariff hikes announced by both sides in a broader battle over Beijing's technology ambitions and trade surplus. Both sides are "seemingly digging...

Paris: The Eiffel Tower was evacuated on Monday after a man was seen climbing up the iconic Paris landmark, one of France's biggest tourist draws, the operating company said. "A climber has been spotted. It's the standard procedure. We have to stop the person, and in that case, we evacuate the tower," an official with the SETE operator told AFP. The esplanade underneath the monument was also evacuated, as was a large section of the adjacent Champ de Mars park. Also Read: Who burned Notre Dame?
