Labour disputes decrease by 42% in Abu Dhabi this year

Labour disputes in Abu Dhabi have decreased by 42 per cent this year compared to the previous year, according to authorities. The latest figures released on Tuesday by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) have shown that the number of complaints and labour cases handled by the Abu Dhabi public prosecution have dropped to 9,979 cases in 2018 from 16,897 cases in 2017. The significant decrease is attributed to the increased awareness among workers about their rights, duties and obligations guaranteed by the UAE laws. A businessman was charged at a Dubai court on Tuesday with fraud after he allegedly duped an Indian man of Dh64,000 in entry permit and labour contract scam.
