Protesters observed a moment of silence to mark the 24 deaths this year. “Bibi, wake up, our blood is not cheap,” protesters chanted near the entrance to Jerusalem,...

Opposition says 'injustice' will galvanize Istanbul voters

The opposition candidate for mayor of Istanbul says he believes "the injustice" caused by the cancellation of his win in March will galvanize voters in his favor in Sunday's rerun election. In an interview Monday with The Associated Press, Ekrem Imamoglu also said a second victory for him would amount to a win for "democracy." Imamoglu won Turkey's March 31 local election with a slim victory in what was a major blow to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey's electoral authority, however, ruling in Erdogan's favor, annulled the result and ordered the new election, citing irregularities. Imamoglu said: "I believe the...

Iran on Monday said it would surpass its stockpile limit of low-enriched uranium by June 27, a move likely to further exacerbate tensions between Washington and Tehran. "We have quadrupled the rate of enrichment and even increased it more recently, so that in 10 days it will bypass the 300 kilogram limit," said Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for Iran's Atomic Energy Organization. Iranian officials have urged European guarantors of the nuclear deal — including Germany, France and the UK — to save the deal with signatories China and Russia after US President Donald Trump withdrew American support for the accord. Virginia college wants wizardry school's $70K debt to vanish

The College of William & Mary says the masters of a wizardry school need to make a $70,000 debt disappear. The Virginian-Pilot reports the college says Learn Larp, LLC hasn't fully paid its $110,000 bill for hosting an adult role-playing event known as "New World Magischola." A $695 ticket for the four-weekend camp in 2017 included meals, housing and witch or wizard robes. Campers also competed for a house trophy, similar to that in the Harry Potter novel and film series. The organization says the event was first held at the college in Williamsburg, Virginia. It has since been hosted...
