A nine-year-old British girl who was on a holiday in Spain with her family, died after eating ice-cream at a local shopping centre. A statement from Club La Costa World, which runs the hotel in Malaga where she had been staying, read: 'The management at Club La Costa World resort would like to offer their heartfelt condolences to the family following the loss of their daughter on 18 February 2019'. A private university in California says it determined one student linked to the biggest school admissions scandal ever prosecuted by federal authorities may have submitted fraudulent SAT scores. Illinois man found guilty in teen's 1992 strangulation death

A 76-year-old man has been convicted in the 1992 strangulation death of an Illinois teenager. Robert Serritella, of Park Ridge, was found guilty Thursday on two counts of first degree murder in the killing of 15-year-old David Chereck, of Skokie. Sentencing is scheduled for June 19. The teen was found strangled with a scarf in a forest preserve Jan. 2, 1992. He had last been seen a day earlier, walking home from a bowling alley in Skokie. Slain North Carolina student gets Purple Heart, Bronze Star

A University of North Carolina-Charlotte student who was killed when he tackled a gunman who opened fire inside a classroom has been posthumously awarded military honors. Twenty-one-year-old Army ROTC cadet Riley Howell was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
