Valve takes down user tributes memorializing the New Zealand shooting suspect

Valve removed more than 100 tributes to the alleged white supremacist responsible for the mass shooting at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand from Steam profiles, says Kotaku. In the days after the attack, it found that numerous users updated their profiles to include the name or image of the shooter, and in one case, a GIF of the attack. Kotaku says that it initially saw 66 profiles that paid tribute to the shooter in the aftermath of the attack, which claimed 50 lives. The number of tributes later surpassed 100. 7 out of 10 people are vulnerable to data breach while disposing off their devices

Global data care expert Stellar has conducted and announced findings of the world’s largest known study of residual data in used devices. The study analyzed a sample size of a total of 311 used devices comprising hard drives, memory cards, and mobile phones at Stellar’s central laboratory in India. The analysis revealed that a majority 71 per cent of these devices contained personal data, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and sensitive business information. Under-18 accounts may not get 'Like' button on social media

The UK does not want its teens hitting the “Like” or “Heart” buttons on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to prevent advertisers from collecting data on youngsters. The regulatory body, Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), has proposed new rules for social media platforms in a bid to keep users under the age of 18 safer online by making their personal information, likes or dislikes, more private, Fast Company reports. Internet Explorer bug allows hackers to steal data even if browser is not in use

A security researcher has discovered a vulnerability in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which allows hackers to potentially steal user data even if they don’t use the browser. Security researcher John Page explained that the browser is vulnerable to XML External Entity attack if a user opens something malicious. MHT file locally, allowing hackers to remotely access the computer and exfiltrate local files. Our Huawei P30 video review is up

We were very impressed with the Huawei P30 Pro but we also checked out the “standard” Huawei P30. The most apparent differences are in the more compact size and the flat, non-curved display. Of course, there are several more technical differences, but the overall experience is identical. We like that Huawei went for an AMOLED for the P30 for deeper blacks and higher contrast when viewing content. The AMOLED screen also allows for an always-on feature, something the P20 didn’t have.
