CBS defends handling of 'Bull' actor and misconduct claim

CBS is defending its handling of a sexual harassment claim against "Bull" drama series star Michael Weatherly. CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said Wednesday that Weatherly "owned" his mistake and was apologetic and remorseful. Last year, CBS reached a $9.5 million confidential settlement with actress Eliza Dushku after she alleged on-set sexual comments from Weatherly made her uncomfortable. Dushku, who was starting a run as a recurring character, was written off the show after complaining about Weatherly. She said he had remarked on her appearance and made jokes involving sex and rape in front of cast and crew in early...

Woodstock? Nope. This fest was in Prairieville, Louisiana

August, 1969. Thousands of long-haired young people, some nude or nearly so, populate the rural landscape. Janis Joplin, Santana, and the Grateful Dead are among the featured acts and the air is thick with the sound of rock and the smell of marijuana. Woodstock? Nope. Prairieville. Prairieville, Louisiana. Fifty years ago, in Woodstock's wake, an estimated 30,000 people jammed into, or camped outside of, a speedway in Prairieville, 65 miles (104.6 kilometers) west-northwest of New Orleans, for what was dubbed the New Orleans Pop Festival. It was a bayou-country re-enactment of sorts. It was smaller than Woodstock, which had drawn...

Harry Potter removed from Tennessee Catholic school library

A Catholic school in Tennessee has removed the Harry Potter books from its library after the school's priest decided they could cause a reader to conjure evil spirits. In an email obtained by The Tennessean , the Rev. Dan Reehil of Nashville's St. Edward Catholic School said he consulted exorcists in the U.S. and Rome who recommended removing the books. Reehil wrote, "The curses and spells used in the books are actual curses and spells; which when read by a human being risk conjuring evil spirits into the presence of the person reading the text." Catholic Diocese of Nashville superintendent...

Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder: Along came a spyder

If we’re talking oily bits, this is essentially the same car as the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 featured on the preceding pages. Unlike the previous-gen Boxster Spyder, which was basically a spin-off from the lesser Boxster GTS, this time around the chop-top roadster gets the full Porsche motorsport division treatment, meaning it scores the same delectable 4.0-litre flat-six motor, 911 GT3-derived suspension, mega brakes and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber as the 718 Cayman GT4. The only performance-related element the Spyder misses out on is the hardcore aero kit — comprising an aggressive front splitter and fixed rear...
