Keep your plants in UAE 'busy' while you're on holiday

There's a new summer camp in town - not for kids, but for plants. Residents who are travelling over the summer months are being invited to drop off their indoor plants at Dubai Garden Centre on the Sheikh Zayed Road in July and August. Under the initiative titled 'Plant Summer Camp', Dubai Garden Centre is offering to adopt and take care of indoor plants of people while they are away on vacations. And the service is free. An indoor green tunnel at the centre will be the new home of the plants that have to be of a certain height...

UAE Press: Countries should ensure sustainable land use

ABU DHABI, 9th August, 2019 (WAM) -- The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC, has cautioned that humanity faces increasingly painful trade-offs between food security and rising temperatures within decades unless emissions are curbed and unsustainable farming and deforestation halted, said the Gulf Today in an editorial on Friday. UAE efforts continue to curb cholera epidemic in Yemen

ADEN, 9th August, 2019 (WAM) -- The UAE has continued its efforts to curb the spread of cholera in Yemen. The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, provided medicinal and medical supplies to hospitals, health centres and clinics, as well as carried out healthcare awareness campaigns. Aid efforts were undertaken in Yemen's Red Sea Coast region, as well as across the Taiz and Hodeidah governorates. The UAE aid authority also distributed potable water to Yemeni civilians. Kochi airport closure disrupts travel plans of expats in UAE

The closure of Cochin International Airport till Sunday due to rain in Indian state of Kerala has affected travel plans of expats in the UAE who had booked tickets for the long weekend. Emirates flights to Kochi diverted due to heavy rain

Heavy rains have derailed the plans of expats who planned to fly to Kochi for the long weekend. Cochin International Airport in Kerala halted flights till 3pm on Sunday due to heavy rain, airport officials said. Dubai-based carrier Emirates airline experienced difficulties following the torrential downpours, which saw water level rising in Periyar river and a canal near the airport.
